Thiamfenicol is a bacteriostatic semisynthetic broad spectrum antibiotic belongs to Chloramphenicol. It produces its antimicrobial activity by binding to 50S ribosomal subunit of the organism resulting in inhibition of microbial protein synthesis.
It is effective against most G -ve bacteria incloding: E. coli ,Pasteurella multocida ,P. haemolytica , Salmonella spp. , Proteus vulgaris & Haemophilus somnus and G +ve bacteria including Streptococci & Staph aureus.
It is used for the treatment of respiratory and intestinal infections caused by organism sensitive to thiamfenicol as:
Route:
Taken orally via drinking water or liquid food..
Dose:
– For broiler chicken:
1.6 – 2 ml of the product / 10 kg b. wt. per day for 3–5 days.
– For Pre-ruminating:
1.6 – 2 ml of the product / 10 kg b. wt. per day for 3–5 days.
Not to be exceed the recommended dose as it causes dismicrobism and/or fungal supper infection incompatibility.
No side effect in the recommended dose.
Pre-ruminating calves: 35 days.
Broiler chicken: 4 days.
Stored at temp not exceeding 30 ᵒC.
