Methylvax

  • composition
  • Each 1 gm contains:

    Phenoxymethylpenicillin  potassium 887 mg

( eq. to phenoxymethylpenicillin base  800 mg )

  • properties
    •  Phenoxymethylpenicillin  is a narrow-spectrum penicillin with activity mainly against gram-positive bacteria (e.g: Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp (not C. difficile), Fusobacterium, and Actinomyces)
    • Phenoxymethylpenicillin as all other penicillins, exerts a bactericidal action on bacteria during the stage of active multiplication. It forms an irreversible binding to penicillin-binding-proteins (PBPs), enzymes that facilitate the formation of cross-links of peptidoglycan chains in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. This results in abnormal cell growth and cytolysis of the cell.
  • target species
  • Broiler chickens
  • indications
  • Treatment of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens.

  • dosage
  • Dosage form : powder for oral solution

    • Although no adverse reactions have been seen after the administration of the product, penicillins may cause diarrhoea and alter gut flora with selecting resistant bacteria.
  • withdrawal time
  • Meat and offal:  2 days.

    Eggs:  zero days.

  • storage condition
  • Store at a temperature not exceeding  30°C in a dry place, used immediately after opening and reconstitution.
